To celebrate International Women’s Day Thrive Women’s Aid hosted a business networking event in March welcoming more than 50 women from the private, public and charity sector to their new offices on Talbot Road in Port Talbot.
Attendees enjoyed powerful and inspirational speeches from Karen Jones Assistant Chief Executive and Chief Digital Officer at Neath Port Talbot Council and Emily Fender social influencer and founder of a female networking group ‘Girl Boss’.
Lucy Reynolds, Director of Thrive Women’s Aid said, “We were overwhelmed by the response to the event with all available tickets reserved within a couple of days. Both speakers conveyed messages of empowerment, supporting one another and the importance of carrying on in the face of adversity. Something I think lots of women could relate to and learn from. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the speakers for making our first event so memorable. We can’t wait to be able to host sessions in the future when it safe to do so.”
Feedback received on the day from attendees was overwhelmingly positive with many commenting on how they were pleased to attend a female focussed event in their local area. One attendee Shida Roberts said “I found it so empowering to be around so many other women sharing our experiences and the challenges that come from striving for that elusive work/life balance, the speakers were inspirational I came away feeling ready to take on the rest of my day! I’m already looking forward to the next one”
The women attending were also treated to free holistic therapy taster sessions from local businesses including mindfulness, Indian head massage, reflexology and osteopathy designed to relax and calm the women before the start of their working day.
